An Overview of the "Big Brother" madness in Pigg

Big Brother?

What is that? A larger sibling? Or just a huge sibling? A boss? What is this Big Brother that's been circulating around the Pigg gossips for a while?

October of last year, when AmePigg was just good ol' AmePico Magazine, we started a mini-game show called "AmePico Big Brother", that featured a group of Pico Players that virtually lived inside a house equipped with video recording device for several hours every scheduled date. These players were then dubbed as "Houseguests" and they competed in every day by either themselves or by groups. The winners of these competitions will then be crowned the "Head of Household", who would later nominate two people to be voted out by the public. The person with most votes by the end of voting sessions will be removed from the game and the last one standing will be crowned the winner of Big Brother.

First Season

For the first season, not a lot knew about the competition except for a few people in Pico - which are the ones working for the production team. It's funny to start such strange and foreign game show around people who have no idea what it is. It's going to be challenging, but we pulled it off. The first season was a great hit, and people look forward to it a lot, with many of them wanting a to be in a second season if there would ever be one.

But all of these enthusiasm and excitement went down and slowly faded away as the announcement of Ameba Pico's closure led to the cancellation of the season. It was a devastating moment, and only two episodes were produced.

Second Season

Due to popular demand and the production team's perseverance of creating another season, AmePigg decided to renew AmePico Big Brother for another season, but in this case, it would be called "Big Brother Ameba Pigg". Since people from Pigg/Pico have already heard about it, hundreds of aspiring Pigg players applied but only nine were accepted. Season two had intruders, twists, and a massive finale that involved the finale two to show their faces. In the end, the winner was crowned and received 750 AG and 5 tokens in total. With the season finale, people were asking for another season, and so the team did renew it for another season.

Was AmePigg the first to have Big Brother in Pigg/Pico?

Believe it or not, AmePigg is not the first one to bring the gameshow in the virtual worlds of Pigg and Pico. Rhenjhennel, a Pico Player who was famous among Filipino players, created his own version of Big Brother, following the Filipino format. Another Pico Player named Kerby also planned his owned version of Big Brother called "Young Brother", although his account was locked and it was never continued.

Worldwide

The country to thank for this awesome reality game show is the Netherlands, where Big Brother all started in 1999. Then several countries had their own versions. From being called Big Brother, it was also called Grande Fratello, Gran Hermano, Veliki Brat, and Secret/Loft Story. Over Sixty countries have their own version of Big Brother, but our version decided to follow the United States' format of Big Brother, with competitions and where the houseguests are allowed to discuss who they'd like to nominate and such.
